Yacht Maintenance Coordinator (BASED IN THE BVI)

Where you will be based:
  • This is a full time, shore based role, located at our base in Road Town, Tortola - the heart of the beautiful British Virgin Islands. This is the sailing capital of the world.

What you will be doing:
In this role, you will be the backbone of the company. You will be responsible for ensuring yachts undergo maintenance checks prior to charter start. You will debrief charter guests, process work sheets, check turnarounds are completed, deal with service calls, coordinate maintenance work with external vendors and suppliers, complete insurance compliance, and move boats. When required, you will also brief customers on yacht systems delivering a high level of customer service.

 During your training period: 
  • You will quickly develop a solid understanding of various yacht systems and their operation, and related common troubleshooting.
  • Learn to turnaround all yachts in fleet
  • Checking that yachts are prepped and ready for charter. 
  • Learn to move boats on and off docks safely without incidents. 
  • Learn to brief and debrief boats. 

After completion of your training: 
  • Once you develop a strong understanding of the fleet, you will independently deliver briefs for charter starts and debriefs clients.
  • Identify maintenance issues on boats and update turn around sheets. 
  • Improve your yacht technical knowledge so that you can learn how to diagnose and repair maintenance issues. 
  • Check turn arounds are completed, deal with service calls. 
  • You will coordinate external vendors and suppliers, complete insurance compliance, and move boats.

When we don’t have charters: 
  • Assist with hurricanising the fleet in off season and taking them to safe storage. 
  • Assist with base projects as required by the Operations Manager.
  • You will assist with turnarounds and maintenance projects as required by the Operations Manager.

What we are looking for: 
  • Experience maintaining inboard diesel engines and 2 & 4 stroke outboards.
  • Working knowledge of 12v DC and 120v AC electrical systems.
  • An understanding of marine plumbing systems.
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience working with similar yachts, manoeuvring yachts will be required.
  • Practically minded, a good fault finder, with the proactive attitude to solving problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise effectively.
